Position Description
To source, identify and gain suitable career placement opportunities for students and graduates across all divisions of the college, to include coordination, monitoring and evaluation of these career placements. Make connections with employers to maximize student and graduate opportunities for sustainable employment or other progression opportunities.
Essential Responsibilities
- Maintain the operations of NCC’s Career Placement Office.
- Plan and implement a comprehensive job placement services program for students and graduates.
- Provide career advisement to students, including but not limited to career goals, requirements of specific occupations, job market trends, proper work habits, and techniques for competing for jobs, including appropriate grooming and dress, effective methods for completing job applications and preparing resumes, and interviewing methods.
- Supervise the receiving of job orders from employers; match students and graduates to jobs and maintain records of students and graduates placed in jobs.
- Maintain NCC’s job search site, including communication to students, faculty, and employers.
- Establish and maintain relationships with area employers, job placement agencies, and workforce development boards.
- Administer and interpret interest inventories, tests, and other evaluative tools.
- Be knowledgeable about educational programs offered at NCC and the relationship of products/services of business and industry.
- Analyze available job market economic data and information. Research job market trends and requirements for a variety of occupations.
- Schedule job and career fairs on a regular basis.
- Conduct regular workshops as needed for career services and resume writing.
- Make classroom presentations as requested.
- Coordinate NCC’s Service Learning Program.
- Serve as adviser to the NCC SkillsUSA Chapter and assist curriculum personnel with NCC’s SkillsUSA efforts.
- Liaise with department chairs and administration on the development, evaluation, and enhancement of Work-Based-Learning opportunities, internships, and apprenticeships.
- Participate in professional development activities provided by NCC.
- Participate in College events and activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned which contribute to the efficient and effective operation of NCC.
- Serve on various committees as assigned.
- Participate in and support ongoing assessment, planning and evaluation to improve student learning.
