Minimum Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

Basic customer relations techniques
 
Basic computer knowledge
 
Principles and procedures of record keeping
 
Basic mathematical principles
 
Procedures and practices involved with handling money, issuing receipts and balancing a cash drawer
 
English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
 

Ability To:

  • Learn to operations, services and activities of a customer service program.
  • Respond tactfully and courteously with the public in answering student inquiries and referring complaints.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Work independently in absence of supervision
  • Maintain a variety of records and files
  • Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
  1. Making observations
  2. Reading and writing
  3. Communicating with others
  4. Operating assigned equipment
  5. Handling varied tasks simultaneously
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
 
Minimum Education/Training:
High School Diploma or equivalent 
 
Minimum Experience:
One year of cash handling and customer service required.

Position Description

DEFINITION:
 
To perform clerical customer service duties in support of college registration activities involving
serving as a cashier, handling student complaints, providing information and maintaining related financial records.
 
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

  • Receives general supervision from supervisory or management staff.
  • Exercises no supervision.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 
Essential Functions:
 
Perform general cashiering duties for the college; receive student tuition and fees; issue parking
decals;  issue  receipts;  issue  refunds  as  required;  maintain    necessary    records  and  files  of transactions; record all monies received on computer  terminal; maintain cash drawer on a daily basis and balance the cash drawer at the end of each day by tender.
 
Provide  assistance  to students  and  the general  public  with inquiries  and  complaints;  answer student  complaints  regarding  registration  fees,  delinquencies  and  refunds;  identify  customer service problems and conduct research; communicate results to students as appropriate.
 
Answer incoming telephone calls providing general information on college registration policies and procedures as required; and if needed refer calls to appropriate department personnel.
 
Assist with distribution of checks to students and employees. 
Maintain petty cash fund; balance petty cash on regular basis. 
Maintain parking ticket information.
Provide information to students regarding student health insurance.
Operate a variety of office equipment; input and retrieve data and text.
Assist with ID card production
Other duties as assigned.

Other Important Functions:

Perform a variety of general clerical duties including typing and proofreading a variety of documents.
 
Assist with shredding and disposing of outdated financial documents.
 
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
