Position Description
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Seeking an entrepreneurial crafts professional with advanced skills in artisan silver jewelry. The successful applicant will have the passion and creative ability to inspire and grow the jewelry program at Southport Center. Successful instructors in other media at Southport have expanded their personal teaching from one section a week to three or more within a few semesters. Responsibilities include but are not limited to planning, preparing, delivering instruction to adult students who are pursuing creative expressions, artistic recognition and/or entrepreneurship in jewelry making. Personal engagement in promoting the program and recruiting students will be critical to success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote and grow the Jewelry program by (1) developing engaging learning experiences that contribute to lifelong learning in the art/craft of silver jewelry – and by (2) sharing knowledge of these opportunities broadly throughout the community.
- Prepare an instructional plan firmly grounded in best practices. Ensure that the curriculum is delivered in a manner consistent with safety standards.
- Utilize space and equipment effectively for students. Be prepared to do minor maintenance pm classroom (craft) equipment when necessary, Requisition required materials and equipment following BCC procedures.
- Provide regular and constructive feedback to students in an objective, consistent and timely manner. File required course records consistently, accurately and on time.
