Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)
1. Must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or related field (awarded by an institution that is accredited by a regional or national accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education);
2. Must have a minimum of five years of full-time or equivalent experience in the field of occupational therapy, which must include:
- Clinical practice as an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant;
- Administrative experience including, but not limited to, program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting;
- Understanding of, and experience with, occupational therapy assistants responsibilities;
- Scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning);
- Must have a minimum of two years of full-time or equivalent experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level.
3. Must be a Certified Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant with licensure in NC.

Job Description Summary
The Department Chair is responsible for leading and coordinating the activities of the Occupational Therapy Assistant Department.
Duties
1. Supports equity in all aspects.
2. Contributes to a safe and secure campus environment.

4. Maintains compliance with requirements from SACSCOC, the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS), and program
accreditors where appropriate.
5. Enforces College policies and procedures.
6. Clearly communicates with all stakeholders.
7. Recruits and hires departmental employees following the guidelines from the Executive Leadership Team and from Human Resources.
8. Develops department schedules and makes teaching assignments.
9. Assists with onboarding for new departmental faculty and staff.
10. Supports ongoing professional development for all departmental faculty and staff.
11. Participates in the Performance Enhancement Process (PEP) for full-time faculty and evaluates adjuncts.
12. Works with departmental faculty and the Coordinator, Curriculum Compliance to ensure the curriculum remains relevant,
rigorous, and equitable, and that it meets state standards.
13. Identifies and procures appropriate teaching technology.
14. Ensures that all reporting to internal and external agencies is timely and accurate.
15. Oversees Student Learning Outcomes assessment on the department level.
16. Selects and orders textbooks and other course material.
17. Develops and supervises department budgets.
18. Instructs an appropriate course load a maximum of 12 to 14 combined class/lab contact hours per week to allow for sufficient release time to ensure that the needs of the program are being met. With future contact, hours reduced 3 to 4 hours during self-study preparation for accreditation, re-accreditation periods, and/or other periods of time deemed necessary, serves on campus committees, and advises an appropriate number of students, as determined by the Dean and the Vice President of Instructional Services.
