Minimum Qualifications
Education: A minimum of an associate degree with major course work in computer networking, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, computer applications, database management or a related field.
Experience: The CIO position requires a diverse skill set. Five or more years’ experience in organizational leadership and resource management is required. In addition, experience in the use, configuration and support of multi-platform systems and information security. The CIO should have the ability to communicate technology and college business related concepts to unfamiliar audiences. A background in training is considered a plus. Administrative responsibilities include supervision and development of personnel, so that extraordinary teamwork is achieved, therefore, extensive experience in supervising multiple employees and managing a broad range of duties is preferred. It is also important that the CIO has the ability to work successfully with all types of people.
Preferred Qualifications
Ten or more years’ experience in organizational leadership and resource management. Experience working in the North Carolina Community College System
Position Description
Under the direction of the President, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) conducts the operational management of the College’s Information Technology Systems and provides information technology (IT) related expertise to the President and his\her executive council in reviewing existing or proposed information systems. This position supervises all Information Technology personnel and services and actively participates in the setup and management of computers and other technological equipment. The CIO also contributes to the positive, professional, and productive college culture by treating every employee and student with dignity and respect at all times.
