Minimum Qualifications

The North Carolina Early Childhood Credential and enrollment in an Early Childhood program of study are required.  Current First Aid and CPR certifications are required.  

Preferred Qualifications

An Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.  Three years of experience with children in a child care setting is preferred.  Bilingual is preferred.

Position Description

The Assistant Teacher will report directly to the Wayne Community College Child Care Center Director.  The Candidate will be responsible for assisting with planning and implementing the daily program of developmentally appropriate practices and activities for a group of children.  Duties include identifying each child’s capabilities and needs, and assuring the welfare, health, and safety of the children in the group.  The Assistant Teacher will attend pre-service and in-service training as required; understand and maintain compliance with North Carolina Child Care Requirements; and all other duties as assigned by the Center Director.
