Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. The applicant must be at least 18 years of age and available to work as needed from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm on weekdays.   *A North Carolina Early Childhood Credential is required. Candidates must obtain a TB Test, health screenings, and the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education Criminal Background Check before the first day of employment. A current CPR and First Aid certification are required or the applicant must be willing to obtain this training and certification within six weeks of the start date.

Preferred Qualifications

An Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or current enrollment in an Early Childhood program of study and experience working with children ages infant to five years is preferred. Bilingual and a National Career Readiness Certificate are preferred.

*If the North Carolina Early Childhood Credential is not presented at the time of hire, the applicant must be willing to enroll in ‘Intro to Early Childhood Education’ (EDU 119) within 6 months of hire and apply for the North Carolina Early Childhood Credential immediately upon successful completion of the course.

Position Description

The Child Care Center Teacher/Floater will serve as a caregiver and will work with lead teachers in all age groups, six weeks to five years. The Teacher/Floater will implement the daily program of developmentally appropriate practices and activities for children and assist with identifying each child's capabilities and needs assuring the welfare, health, and safety of the children in the group. Duties include attending required pre-service and in-service training, including, but not limited to SIDS training and First Aid/CPR.  The Teacher/Floater maintains compliance with the North Carolina Child Care requirements and will perform other duties as assigned.
