Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a nationally accredited institution required.   

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • One year of professional library experience in an academic setting required.  
  • A strong commitment to Circulation and knowledge of computer-based library applications required.  
  • Automated library system experience preferred.  
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students and employees. 

 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Generally, works in a traditional climate-controlled office environment and requires the ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Some walking, standing, and bending required, and the ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 15 pounds.
  • Work environment can be stressful at times in dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines.
  • In addition to regular office hours, position sometimes requires overtime and/or evening hours.

Position Description

SUMMARY

OPEN UNTIL FILLED 

Manage and supervise the Circulation Area of the library including circulation, reserves, interlibrary loan, and serials management.   Assist with Information Access services including reference.  Flexible scheduling to accommodate hours of operation.  Report to the Director of Libraries.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Manage Circulation Area of the library including circulation, reserves, interlibrary loan, and serials management.   
  2. Interview, select, train, and evaluate circulation personnel.    
  3. Maintain the circulation, reserves, and serials services.    
  4. Maintain interlibrary loan services through the automated library system and provide OCLC services.   
  5. Assist in reference services that include locating information through print and electronic sources.    
  6. Assist in bibliographic instruction for individuals, groups, and classes in the use of information sources, including the Internet.    
  7. Participate in collection management, reading standard reviewing tools, and recommending acquisitions.     
  8. Participate in continuous serials evaluation process.   
  9. Maintain stack maintenance.     
  10. Participate in opening and closing procedures.   
  11. Assist in marketing library services.
  12. Participate in college committees and professional organizations; participate in staff development by attending workshops, seminars, and conferences.         
  13. Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.
