Education Required:
- North Carolina Paramedic Credential
- North Carolina Level I ALS Instructor
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor
Preferred Qualifications
Education Preferred:
- Associates degree in Emergency Medical Science (EMS) or field closely related
- NAEMSE Level II Instructor
- American Heart Association Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) Instructor
- Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Instructor
Experience Required:
- Three years of relevant field experience in Emergency Medical Science (EMS) or closely related career field
- Three years of relevant teaching/training experience in Emergency Medical Science or closely related career field
Experience Preferred:
- Greater than three years of relevant field experience in Emergency Medical Science (EMS) or closely related career field
- Greater than three years of relevant teaching/training experience in Emergency Medical Science or closely related career field
- Post-secondary teaching experience
- Experience in distance learning and / or alternate instructional delivery systems
Position Description
The EMS Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and overall effectiveness for clinical experiences. The EMS Clinical Coordinator is a professional, credentialed faculty responsible for providing quality learning experiences in credit or non-credit courses in their area of expertise for all Alamance Community College (ACC) students. Faculty are responsible for providing learning experiences on the main campus and off-site. Faculty are responsible for but are not limited to planning, organizing, promoting, and teaching appropriate courses, to include online and hybrid. Faculty are also responsible for academic advising, follow-up support services, recruitment, and performing other duties as assigned.
The Clinical Coordinator is expected to perform all related duties in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the College, the North Carolina Community College System, and in accordance with any and all accrediting bodies.
Under the supervision of the department chair/program director, the clinical coordinator will educate and train students to gain skills, knowledge and behaviors and support successful entry into the workplace.
- Evaluating student performance during clinical experiences in an ongoing manner and communicating student progress to the Program Director.
- . Ensures all students are in compliance with clinical site requirements prior to scheduling clinical shifts
- Coordinates and schedules clinical site orientation sessions for students with each clinical agency
- Conducts site visits at clinical agencies and facilities to observe students during clinical shifts and field internship
- Coordinates and maintains clinical schedules with clinical and field internship sites.
- Provides program orientation and training to clinical and field preceptors.
- Maintains regular contact with clinical preceptors, clinical sites and EMS agencies.
- Assists the EMS Program Director with the evaluation of the program clinical sites.
- Assists clinical preceptors by providing evaluation devices of student learning and clinical experience to measure progress and competency.
- Functions as a liaison between the EMS program and the clinical sites. + Monitors student clinical progress and clinical competency based on program objectives.
- Audits all clinical documentation to ensure students are maintaining satisfactory progress in achieving clinical requirements.
- Maintains all clinical documentation as required by CoAEMSP standards and OEMS regulations
- Assists the EMS Program Director with seeking new clinical agencies/facilities as needed to provide quality experiences for EMS students and to support program growth.
- Maintains professional qualifications through participation in continuing education programs and academic courses.
- Resolves any conflicts in the clinical environment and communicating conflicts and resolutions to the Program Director in an ongoing and timely manner.
