Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in any field and be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency and possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through aa national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA). A minimum of three (3) years of documented experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five (5) years. Possess knowledge of the curriculum and about the program’s evaluation of student learning and performance.

Position Description

  • Function effectively as a member of the didactic, laboratory and clinical faculty
  • Communicate effectively in both the educational and health care settings
  • Organize program resources in laboratory and clinical education centers for maximum program performance
  • Maintain knowledge in current trends, research, developments, and resources in surgical technology
  • Maintain knowledge of principles and procedures of academic and institutional program development in the field of surgical technology
  • Create effective instruction for delivery in the classroom
  • Provide a quality learning experience for RCC students in the Surgical Technology curricula.
  • Plan, organize, promote and teach Surgical Technology courses for the College
  • Perform all instruction-related duties in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the College and the NCCCS
  • Provide placement, advising and follow-up support services for students
  • Demonstrate professional development and use of instructional strategies to improve student learning
  • Implement and assess identified program and institutional student learning outcomes
  • Serve on department and college committees as requested
  • Supervise students in the use of evidence based practice guidelines during clinical experiences in the Associate Degree Surgical Technology curricula.
  • Maintain the CST credential, participating in professional organizations and professional development workshops
  • Provide systematic observations and objective judgements in regard to student performance
