Minimum Qualifications

Associate in Applied Science degree in Medical Assisting with current medical assistant certification
through a nationally recognized and accredited certifying agency.

Certification Requirement: Must be a certified medical assistant –CMA (AAMA) and a member in
good standing with the American Association of Medical Assistants. Current CPR BLS certified.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Minimum 2 years’ experience in the clinical setting as a practicing
medical assistant. With 2 years teaching as a medical assistant in a community college setting.

Position Description

Medical Assisting Clinical Coordinator will facilitate the learning of clinical and administrative
competencies in curriculum courses. Instructor(s) will assist the Chairperson in developing and
delivering instructional plans to meet course competencies. Instructor will take on responsibility as
Clinical Coordinator, establishing a strong relationship with clinical sites and obtaining new clinical
sites. Routinely reporting to the clinical site and evaluating students.
Demonstration of skills in the areas of: communication, organization, and managing multiple
priorities; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty,
staff, community groups, clinical sites, and others; and demonstrated ability to work within a
collaborative team environment. Ability to accommodate a flexible working schedule including
evenings and weekends. Limited travel within service area.

Teach courses assigned by the chairperson and approved by the division dean.
Design and implement instructional activities that are appropriate and meaningful.
Adhere to the departmental course guidelines and ensure that content covers approved student
learning outcomes and CAAHEP/MAERB competencies.
Maintain all required college records including attendance and grade reports, assignments etc.
Evaluate student performance using methods appropriate to the course.
Implement required student learning outcomes assessment.
Curriculum Development:
Assist with maintaining, reviewing, and updating course descriptions, learning outcomes, and course

Annually review programs of study for accuracy with current curriculum standards and combined
course library
Recommend supplies, equipment, equipment repairs, textbooks, and the scheduling of classroom
and laboratory facilities.
Participate in departmental activities relative to revising and updating the program(s) in the area of
Utilize student learning outcomes assessment results to improve courses/program
Provide assistance to advisees including monitoring academic progress and performance.
Participate in department, division and college-wide advising activities.

Professional Development:
Develop a professional development plan that is approved by the chairperson and the division dean
and participate in those activities.
Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for position.
Keep abreast of current technology.
Attend workshops, conferences, and professional meetings.
Participate in on-campus professional development activities; including evenings as needed.
Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures.
Attend all required department, division, and college-wide meetings.
Serve on committees as required.
Participate in college-wide activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Assure that students receive a comprehensive clinical education through section assignments,
evaluations, performance testing, and ongoing communication with diagnostic imaging supervisors
and staff.
Conduct formal and informal counseling of students and ensure that students adhere to all policies,
rules and regulations of both the school and the hospital.

Devote sufficient time to clerical responsibilities on an ongoing basis to meet the needs of the
program with regard to tracking of student clinical progress and maintaining appropriate
documentation in student files.
Maintain and regularly update student clinical files including rotation evaluations, clinical
examination competency evaluations, student bank of leave hours, and clinical attendance records.
Make regular visits to all clinical areas to evaluate student performance, compliance with program
policies and procedures, and to act as a liaison between area supervisors, lead technologists, staff
technologists, and the program, while soliciting appropriate feedback with regard to program
Perform competency evaluations as time permits, and oversee evaluation processes ensuring
technologists understanding of the clinical evaluation criteria to ensure the integrity of the evaluation
Motivate students to work at optimal efficiency by fostering an atmosphere conducive to open
