Minimum Qualifications

Education Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in social science, education, social work, psychology, counseling, business, human resources, communication, or related field.

Experience Required:

• Three years of experience in career services, job placement services, workforce development, human resources or related field.

• One year of career advising/guidance experience that includes administering career assessments, teaching job search techniques, explaining labor market information, and helping students set academic and career goals.

• Experience developing and directing career workshops and programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Education Preferred:

• Master’s degree in social science, education, social work, psychology, counseling, business, human resources, communication, or related field.

Experience Preferred:

• Greater than three years of experience in career services, job placement services, workforce development, human resources or related field.

• Greater than one year of career advising/guidance experience that includes administering career assessments, teaching job search techniques, explaining labor market information, and helping students set academic and career goals.

• Experience with post-secondary academic advising that includes assisting students with program selection, educational plans, course scheduling, and registration.

• Experience planning and leading special events such as employer recruiting events and career fairs.

• Experience in community outreach to assess business/industry needs and develop strong employer partnerships.

Position Description

The Student Success and Career Services Coach works in conjunction with the Director of Student Success and Retention Services to manage the Career Services aspects of the Center, providing services and activities that meet student, community, departmental, divisional, and institutional career needs. The Student Success and Career Services Coach provides academic advisement and maintains a caseload of currently enrolled students. S/he offers students resources for career exploration, interprets career assessments, and helps students to research employment trends. Additionally, this position oversees the training of other Student Success Coaches across the college to ensure they are adequately prepared to assist students with career interest inventories, job search strategies, resume writing, mock interviewing, and interviewing skills. S/he will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the college’s annual Career Fair. The Student Success and Career Services Coach works to build relationships with local employers encouraging the hiring of our graduates. This individual performs additional duties as determined by the Director of Student Success and Retention Services.
