OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Coordinator, College and Career Readiness (ESL and Transitions) is responsible for coordination of the English as a Second Language (ESL) and Transitions programs within College and Career Readiness. The Coordinator plans, develops, organizes, monitors and evaluates curricula, classes and activities to increase literacy and prepare adults for employment and/or post-secondary education entry. This position is responsible for training, managing and evaluating staff that work in assigned programs. This position is also responsible for CCR program outreach.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in planning and implementing the goals and objectives of the ESL and Transitions programs; provides ongoing instructional support in collaboration with College and Career Readiness staff to ensure that program activities are sufficient and that local and state policies and procedures are being followed
  • Monitors course offerings and recommends additions, changes and deletions to keep program area current by monitoring and evaluating student portfolios, instructor lesson plans, and student outcomes
  • Recruits, interviews, orients and supervises adjunct faculty for assigned program areas; evaluates performance
  • Develops and administers a standard evaluation tool for instructors and students in collaboration with immediate supervisor; makes revisions to tools as needed
  • Collaborates with Director and other staff to develop and deliver professional development training for instructors
  • Collaborates with others in the department to assess, monitor, design and implement retention efforts to increase student progression and program completion
  • Establishes and maintains good community relations, seeks opportunities to market ESL and Transitions programs to individuals, groups, and industry leaders; promotes community awareness of College and Career Readiness programs
  • Assists in the recruiting of new students in all program areas by creating and maintaining a database of prospective and current students, develops resource materials for student recruitment, provides content for CCR webpage and newsletter, and attends community events
  • Provides intake services to new students through walk-ins, phone calls, virtual calls, or email
  • Assists and advises students in creating an educational plan and monitors academic progression throughout the student’s enrollment
  • Provides information and guidance to new, prospective, and undecided students in the transition to college, workforce training, or employment opportunities
  • Instructs classes in all CCR program areas as needed
  • Assists in the coordination of recognition ceremonies and participates in campus graduation of student completers
  • Participates in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
  • Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the College’s mission, core values and goals

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Education or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
Two (2) years’ experience in adult instruction or teaching special populations.
 

Preferred:
Master’s degree in Adult Education from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
Experience in a College and Career Readiness program.
Experience using Colleague.

  • Federal and state laws and regulations applicable to College and Career Readiness programs
  • National Reporting System and state and local College and Career Readiness policies and procedures
  • Principles, procedures and practices of data collection and analysis
  • Principles of supervision including employee training and performance evaluation
  • Methods and techniques of program marketing and publicity
  • Current trends, technologies and initiatives relative to student success and retention
  • Test evaluation and measurement

  • Proficiency in planning, organization, communication, training, supervisory and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in technological systems as they apply to instructional and administrative needs, including Microsoft Office
  • Competency in monitoring/assessing the performance of self, other individuals and programs to make improvements or take corrective action
