Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Skills and Abilities 

  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with others. 
  • Skilled in the use of computers and commitment to use of technology. 
  • Experience with current version of MS Office or similar programs. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Provide exceptional customer service with people internal and external to the institution. 
  • Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college. 
  • Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies:

Preferred Qualifications

Two to three years of teaching experience preferred.

Position Description

  1. Instruct students face to face and virtually and devise lesson plans to address each student’s needs.
  2. Register students, assign courses, and counsel students.
  3. Interview and instruct students in the proper use of programmed materials, time records, course requirements and regulations for ABE and GED.
  4. Create, administer, grade, and maintain records of exams, activities, and reports for evaluation of student’s progress.
  5. Maintain individual files for students, including documentation of student progress.
  6. Submit all necessary records and reports to the program coordinator in a timely manner.
  7. Place and instruct College and Career Readiness students in specific software programs and promote an atmosphere conducive to learning.
  8. Develop strategies for student retention and maintain discipline and order in the classroom.
  9. Provide appropriate contract and calendar documentation of contract changes or site absences to designated person for internal/external auditing purposes.
  10. Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from colleagues, divisions, the College and all academic program needs.
  11. Be available to students via email, phone, or personal conferences. 
  12. Maintain proficiency with all classroom equipment both on and off campus. Keep college equipment secure.
  13. Participate in the marketing, recruitment, and retention of students, faculty, and staff.
  14. Participate in graduation ceremonies.
  15. Participate in required meetings and events.
  16. Participate in professional development activities and College required training.
  17. Establish and cultivate effective relationships with community agencies, employers, and educational partners.
  18. Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others in a collegial environment.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.
