Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year institution with a minimum of three (3) years of teaching in an adult education setting. Minimum of 2 years of experience in teaching students with learning difficulties to include intellectually challenged students and students with various other disabilities. Excellent communication in both oral and written skills necessary. Must demonstrate expert capabilities to effectively use Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Education and/or Special Education. Teaching experience at the community college or four-year college. On-line teaching experience.

Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for this position. Duties
Instructs in the Adult Basic Education classroom or the English Language Acquisition classroom.
Responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating contextualized instruction and assessment aligned with the NCCCS Adult Basic and Adult Secondary Education Content Standards for Language Arts (including reading, writing, speaking, and listening), Mathematics, and Basic Computer Skills.
Coordinate and provide instruction to adult learners.
Teach adult basic skills students in a classroom or lab setting.
Instruct adult students and utilize effective teaching methods.
Assess student skills and achievement levels.
Conduct initial assessment and monitor assessments of student progress, maintain files, and assist students in goal setting and goal attainment.
Use the NCCCS Adult Content Standards; develop, implement, and use instructional materials, curricula, units, and lessons for the Basic Skills Classroom.
Develop, gather, and implement instructional resources and develop and administer informal assessments.
Plan, organize, and develop lessons, units, and programs to improve students’ functional and academic competencies by integrating the NCCCS Adult Content Standards and contextualized instruction into practice.
Work effectively with the Transitional Studies team to improve customer satisfaction in a community college practicing continuous quality improvement.
Effectively implement and monitor the assigned course schedule.
Possess knowledge/experience in one or more of the following areas: English Language Acquisition, Adult Basic Education, and Adult Secondary Education.
Demonstrate mastery of adult level reading and math competencies as assessed using the Test of Adult Basic Education or the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment (CASAS).
Understand and apply NRS, State, and Local Performance Measures, LEIS, Adult Content Standards to record-keeping practices, and apply contextualized instructional practices to classroom learning.
Effectively perform related administrative and record-keeping duties.
Attend a minimum of 30 hours of professional development per year as offered locally and by NCCCS.
Remain abreast of current developments in Adult Education.
Develop, plan, implement, and coordinate various reports and forms related to classes, including progress notes, attendance, and individual student records in accordance with the NCCCS Basic Skills Program Policy Manual.
Receive, review, process, file, and submit a variety of documents and reports such as student records, attendance, progress data, and quarterly reports, etc.
Manage adequate inventory of instructional supplies and equipment.
Demonstrate proficiency utilizing and incorporating various types of technology, i.e., computers, calculators, smartboards, etc., to oversee teaching, learning, and record-keeping.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
Possess excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact positively with leadership of public and private organizations and agencies and with individuals with special needs.
Maintain ADA compliance in the traditional face-to-face classroom as well as in distance learning.
