Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The College and Career Readiness Instructor is responsible for instructing courses for the College and Career Readiness department. The primary duties of the position are instructional time, curriculum development and delivery, and student retention and transitioning to post-secondary opportunities. The CCR Instructor also ensures consistency and quality of instruction by coordinating with part-time CCR instructors to meet compliance with program policy. The CCR Instructor will instruct and monitor CCR student actions in all phases of training and ensure student compliance with program policy.

 

  • Provides excellent customer service and assistance to internal and external customers through walk-in, telephone and email
  • Responsible for delivering instruction of assigned CCR classes including but not limited to First Step, Fast Track, and Digital Literacy
  • Participates in the development of curriculum that maximizes student learning and HSE completion
  • Maintains accurate student attendance rosters and student records
  • Maintains classroom in a neat and orderly manner
  • Instructs and monitors student actions in all phases of training and ensure students’ compliance with program policy
  • Evaluates students daily making formal evaluations on a regular schedule by utilizing appropriate academic and skills tests
  • Participates in the development of retention plans, strategies and written materials
  • Assists and advises students in creating an educational plan and monitors academic progression throughout the student’s enrollment
  • Establishes plans of action to address negative attrition/retention patterns
  • Contacts students in jeopardy of being withdrawn from the program through face-to-face meetings, Mongoose texting, web or phone calls, and emails to provide support and coaching for persistence
  • Provides information and guidance to new, prospective, and undecided students in the transition to college, workforce training, or employment opportunities
  • Assists in the coordination of recognition ceremonies and participates in campus graduation of student completers
  • Participates in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
  • Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the College’s mission, core values and goals

  • Adult learning theory, concepts and teaching methodology
  • Curriculum design and development
  • Federal and state laws and regulations applicable to College and Career Readiness programs
  • National Reporting System and state and local College and Career Readiness policies and procedures
  • Principles, procedures and practices of data collection and analysis
  • Current trends, technologies and initiatives relative to student success and retention
  • Federal, state and college requirements regarding FERPA and other applicable laws and regulations

 
 
Skills

  • Proficiency in planning, organization, communication, training, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in technological systems as they apply to instruction and administrative needs, including Microsoft Office
  • Competency in monitoring/assessing the performance of self and programs to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Works effectively in a team environment with a customer service focus
