Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university and a minimum of three years’ teaching experience at the college level or adult level. In-depth knowledge of the subject area.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience with adults in a community college setting. Online teaching experience and familiarity with Blackboard.
Position Description
Announcement Summary
Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for this full-time position located at the FTCC site on the Fort Bragg military base. Qualified candidates must possess the ability to effectively teach math and English course of instruction for a hybrid class, including face-to-face class and online (Blackboard) components related to preparation for the Armed Forces Classification Test, including but not limited to building vocabulary, improving reading comprehension, teaching basic grammar, and teaching basic arithmetic reasoning concepts focusing on word problems, as well as teaching pre-algebra and related math topics. The person in this position will also be responsible for teaching a month-long, face-to-face class four times per year (March, June, September, and November) in the evening, 5:30-9:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday, covering the same material as mentioned above. In addition, the instructor will teach an Effective Writing class on an as-needed basis, working around the BSEP class schedule.. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in subject content, program planning, curriculum design, and teaching methodologies and strategies. Eligible candidates will also possess excellent computer skills, demonstrate evidence of a career that includes flexible work experiences and a willingness to change; be open-minded, fair, and possess the ability to see multiple perspectives; be willing to take risks and accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.
Duties
Provide quality English and math course of instruction by incorporating latest instructional technologies in course delivery and utilize interactive learning technologies to engage students in the teaching and learning process.
Assist in recruiting new students into the program.
Advise and register students who are in the program.
Monitor and implement practices designed to improve student retention.
Maintain face-to-face and/or online classroom environments which foster student learning, engagement, and retention.
Maintain accurate scholastic and membership records of students enrolled in classes and prepare and submit reports as required.
Assist in the design and update of course syllabi, curriculum review, revision and development.
Provide quality customer service to students, faculty and staff.
Continually develop and improve skills through professional development.
Participate in faculty committees and other activities as assigned.
Instruct class in arithmetic reasoning in order to participate in Army predictor testing.
