Position Description

The College & Career Readiness Assessment and Retention Coordinator will assist in recruiting, testing and monitoring operations of the College and Career Readiness Department. They will be responsible for analyzing student data per NCCS Basic skills benchmarks and federal requirements to prepare timely reports that allow for data informed management. A successful candidate will be student focused and eager to assist students with a focus on collaboration. Essential duties and responsibilities: • Completes follow up interviews and surveys with students (at least quarterly) and inputs data into LEIS system. • Completes student file review to and ensures documentation of activities and compliance with program standards. • Provides information and guidance to new, prospective and undecided students to assist in the transition to college or Basic Skills programs. • Conducts surveys and other research; Collects student outcome data; gathers, compiles, and analyzes information; prepares weekly reports for coordinators, staff, and instructors. • Works with Coordinators, staff and faculty to maintain student outcome tracking, monitor MSG rate and credential completion; assists with completing progress testing • Monitors attendance and progress of classes through site visits and other methods. • Assists in student recruitment and explains policies, procedures and program requirements to students. • Assist students in selecting educational goals. • Monitor student progress per standardized testing and administer test per NCCCS Basic Skills policy. • Reviews, interprets, and evaluates applicant test scores. • Designs and conducts workshops that will enhance the development of academic skills and retention. • Oversees registration process and paperwork; maintains files on registered students. • Provides resources and referrals to students to resolve barriers and assist with academic and career goals. • Processes end-of-term paperwork and compiles reports on grades, attendance, and retention rates. • Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Knowledge of academic program requirements across the college • Knowledge of Adult Learning theory and Basic Skills Program • Understanding of all Basic Skills national reporting system requirements and documentation • Knowledge of data systems for entering and reporting for state reports • Ability to communicate effectively orally, visually, and written • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds • Familiarity with Microsoft Office • Proficiency in Excel • Requires knowledge of student placement • Requires knowledge of assessment tools • Requires knowledge of institutional strategies Surroundings/Environment: Standard office environment, usually indoors away from the elements, with moderate noise. Physical Effort: This position is sedentary in nature. Talking and hearing is required frequently. Extended periods viewing a computer may be necessary. Occasionally the position may require the ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Scheduling: This is a full time position. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, there will be times where work is required before or after normal working hours, holidays, weekends and school calendar breaks. Travel: Local travel is required, including between campus locations. Out of state travel is limited, but may be required for special trainings/conferences.
