Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and experience with high school curriculum, computers, and software packages, required
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree and experience with adult literacy and Federal program planning, and /or teaching experience, preferred
In support of the overall Learning College, this position will coordinate College and Career Readiness programs sponsored by Isothermal Community College, including Adult Basic Education, English as a Second Language, High School Equivalency, Adult High School, and Digital Literacy; teach a class annually or as needed; provide support for the College and Career Readiness programs and serve as a support for the College and Career Readiness instructors; provide training and support for use of program software purchased for use in the department; assist and monitor attendance, curriculum and NC guidelines for graduation, program testing, and be a positive team member of the College & Career Readiness Department.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide support for the College & Career Readiness Department
- Assist with recruiting, training, and supporting of instructors
- Assist with scheduling classes
- Coordinate and assign instructors for classes and assign substitute hours as needed
- Maintain required attendance, placement and post testing records, and assist with program monitoring as required by the local, state, and federal regulations for programs
- Observe and monitor classes
- Work with the college community, people within the community, outside agencies, and the College & Career Readiness Department to create appropriate transition programs for students as required by WIOA regulations and System Office requirements for funding
- Remain current with regard to college, state, and federal regulations affecting the College and Career Readiness programs in North Carolina, specifically in the Community College System
- Attend and provide ongoing professional staff development as required
- Keep instructors informed of classroom and administrative requirements for monitoring, testing, and transitioning of all students in College and Career Readiness programs
- Provide on-going curriculum support for College & Career Readiness programs
- Assume other duties as delegated by the College & Career Readiness Director and/or the Dean of Continuing Education

- Ability to learn new computer programs as required
- Ability to act as a liaison between faculty and management of a host agency
- Ability to interact positively with college staff and with agencies
- Ability to manage files, reports, and keep up the date documentation of programs for monitoring visits, audits, and local, federal, and state requirements
- Ability to teach adult education classes
- Ability to learn software programs and teach others how to use them
- Lead and assist with team processes and positive working relationships
- Excellent understanding of College and Career Readiness curriculum
