Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree along with three (3) years of teaching experience is required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
Some supervisory experience and some experience teaching adult learners is preferred.
Position Description
Under the direction of the Director of College and Career Readiness, serves as a coordinator and instructor of CCR adult basic education programs. Work schedule varies; may be asked/required to work occasional evenings/weekends as needed. This is a grant-funded position until 2025.
Essential Duties: Teach 10-18 hours a week in Adult Basic Education; coordinate substitutes for instructors or fill in as needed. Work closely with basic skills staff to provide support for program efforts. Monitor the enrollment process, and maintain records for academic progress including placement, retention, completion, and graduation. Report program data to the Director of College & Career Readiness and the state community college system office. Assist/provide and coordinate professional development training and materials to ABE instructors. Develop and assess the effectiveness of educational materials and standards-based curriculum. Coordinates recruitment and retention of students. Supervise and evaluate instruction. Maintains records for state and federal regulations for course and program audits. Assist Director with the evaluation of program performance measures. Assist Director with scheduling of classes. Monitor student progress; post-test reports; and program completion. Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Multitask and independently manage a significant amount of work. Provide technical leadership in classroom education processes and programs. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Operate a PC and related software. Instruct students in the assigned courses. Maintain effective working relationships with other people. Develop different and interesting teaching methods and techniques. Keep and maintain appropriate student records for students and other activities for which held responsible. Develop and administer appropriate evaluation tools for measurement of student progress and success. Enforce and follow rules and regulations of the College governing the College & Career programs.
