Position Description
This is a full time, twelve-month position reporting to the Vice-President of Workforce Development/Ashe Campus. The ideal candidate will be innovative and collaborative in working with students, parents, and the faculty and staff of both the Ashe County Early College High School (ACECHS) and the college. He/she should have the ability to multi-task and possess strong communication skills. He/she will be a key leader in the development of the ACECHS and an advocate of the program both internally and externally, with a focus in high quality educational programs that meet the individual needs of a diverse student population. The position will be housed at the Ashe Campus.
Job Duties:
The position includes the following responsibilities and expectations:
1. Developing, supporting and working to maintain positive relationships between Ashe County Early College High School (ACECHS) and the community college.
2. Serving as primary information conduit between ACECHS and the college and as chief advocate for ACECHS with the college.
3. Serving students at ACECHS with advising and supporting their transition into college courses.
4. Coordinating scheduling of college courses.
5. Organizing registration processes for college courses.
6. Assisting with college registration for ACECHS students.
7. Tracking ACECHS student progress towards graduation.
8. Conducting student meetings pertaining to college success.
9. Completing graduation checkout processes for ACECHS students.
10. Assisting ACECHS students who do not earn credentials prior to high school graduation with enrollment at WCC.
11. Coordinating Disability Services requests for ACECHS students.
12. Coordinating the use of college facilities and resources.
13. Participating in the student recruitment and selection process.
14. Serving on college and ACECHS committees.
15. Assisting with ACECHS high school needs, including proctoring exams, attending and chaperoning events, facilitating service learning projects, supervising field trips.
16. Teaching selected courses upon request.
17. Assisting with New Student Orientation in summer.
18. Completing other related duties as required/requested by supervisor.
