Essential Functions

The College Liaison, CHIS works collaboratively with faculty and staff of Durham Tech and the staff of assigned CIHS to promote and deliver a seamless integration of secondary and post-secondary curricula that allows students to complete an Associate degree or up to two years of college credit during high school. The College Liaison is responsible for the coordination and implementation of student recruitment, enrollment plans, and strategies designed to increase completion of college credentials.
 

Job Duties

1. Assist in developing four or five-year plans of study combining secondary and postsecondary coursework to ensure the attainment of an associate’s degree or two years of college credit;
 

2. Assist in the development of schedules that support gradual transitions into increasing levels of independence in postsecondary coursework;
 

3. Work with secondary and postsecondary staff to ensure coordination of high school and college schedules that allow access to required coursework;
 

4. Assist with curriculum planning between secondary and postsecondary subject areas to reduce redundancy and maximize collaboration;
 

5. Coordinate between college and high school staff to identify professional development that is appropriate or deemed necessary;
 

6. Collaborate with college and high school Accessibility Services  to ensure proper student support;
 

7. Engage students, counselors, faculty, parents, and other stakeholders to provide information sessions related to college success and opportunities at Durham Tech;
 

8. Participate in school-related activities (magnet outreach and recruitment, information tours, orientation, grade level meetings, parent nights) to promote CIHS partnership;
 

9. Coordinate college enrollment process and serve as an academic advisor to students;
 

10. Participate in communication with college facility regarding student performance;
 

11. Maintain records for enrollment, tracking, and audit reporting purposes;
 

12. Submit monthly progress reports to Assistant Director, College Recruitment and High School Partnerships documenting progress and outcome data;

13. Maintain quality partnerships with secondary school personnel in collaboration with the Assistant Director, College Recruitment and High School Partnerships;

14. Participate in team meetings and professional development activities, as directed by the Director, College Recruitment and High School Partnerships.
