Position Description

The College Liaison fosters the development of positive relationships between the higher education partner and the high school; and bridges the gap while keeping communication lines open. The College Liaison provides support and serves as the chief advocate for the Early College High School.

The duties of the College Liaison include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in developing four or five- year plans of study combining secondary and postsecondary coursework to ensure the attainment of an associate's degree or two years of transferable college credit
  • Assist in the development of schedules that support gradual transitions into increasing levels of independence in postsecondary coursework
  • Work with secondary and postsecondary staff to ensure coordination of high school and college schedules that allow access to required coursework
  • Assist secondary staff with the registration of students in postsecondary courses
  • Synchronize the planning for the Early College High School, so that high school schedules are developed in time to fit into the college cycles for room allocation and instructor assignment
  • Help to plan summer orientation, with focus on needs for space and types of activities
  • Coordinate the use of college facilities
  • Compile and store data related to student success
  • Assist with registration
  • Assist with new student orientation
  • Assist with campus activities
  • Facilitate curriculum planning between secondary and postsecondary subject areas to reduce redundancy and maximize collaboration
  • Facilitate cooperative planning to align secondary and postsecondary expectations
  • Work with postsecondary department heads to increase course offerings at specific times or regarding special topics
  • Coordinate between college and high school staff to identify professional development that is appropriate or deemed necessary
  • Connect early college students to student life on campus, through special events such as Black History Month, student government, and other programs
  • Involve students with special support services at the College
  • Promote the Early College High School both on and off campus
  • Participate in parent involvement activities at the Early College High School
  • Collaborate with college and high school disability service staff to ensure proper student support
  • Dedicate at least 90% of time directly to serving students and meeting program needs of the Early College High School
