Minimum Qualifications

                                                                       

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in Office Administration, Information Technology, or related field. Three (3) or more years office experience required; customer service experience preferred. Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets. General knowledge of office practices and excellent attention to detail. Willingness to accommodate requests for support outside of regular business hours on occasion, with appropriate notice.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.  Ability to work well with the public in high pressure situations. Ability to multitask and to perform detailed tasks accurately. Strong computer skills with a focus on office applications. Two years’ Community College experience in Student Services and/or an office setting at an educational institution.

 

Position Description

Answers incoming calls to the college’s Student Services line ((252) 862-1200) and effectively routes calls to other offices on campus as needed.  Schedules a wide variety of activities (appointments, meetings, travel reservations/accommodations, facility usage, etc.) for internal customers as well as external stakeholders and groups. Provides general support to visitors.  Provides administrative support to the AVP of Students Services and Student Services Division, which include scheduling, meeting coordination, material preparation, data entry, making travel arrangements, processing expense reporting, and other general administrative tasks. Identifies scheduling conflicts and provides regular scheduling updates to the AVP. Manages Outlook calendar appointments for the AVP and team. Coordinates meeting and event registration and logistics, which includes securing space, arranging for food refreshments, preparing materials, and confirming participant reservations and attendance. Prepares a variety of documents (correspondence, agendas, minutes, event programs, reports, etc.) to communicate information and/or create documentation in paper and/or electronic format. Maintains up-to-date records, which includes files, contacts lists, and database entries. Participates in event planning as required. Prepares mailings and packages for delivery. 

COMPETENCIES:

Knowledge and experience in general office management.  Ability to handle a wide range of administrative and support related tasks independently with minimal supervision. Well-organized, flexible, and ability to uphold the mission and vision of Roanoke-Chowan Community College in every aspect of the work. Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality while interacting with internal and external stakeholders while remaining adaptable, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.  Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.  Ability to prioritize, attention to details. Proficiency in computer and office software applications.
