Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Two years of work experience in admissions or other student services programs within a higher education setting.
  • Must have a valid CDL driver's license or be willing to obtain as a condition of employment.
  • Ability to build positive, productive relationships and work effectively and collegially with others
  • Ability to work independently, setting and meeting goals and evaluating progress regularly
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse groups of people in both oral and written formats
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Skill in the use of computers and commitment to using technology
  • Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Fluent Spanish speaking and writing skills

Position Description

 

SUMMARY:

The College Recruiter and Admissions Counselor is responsible for developing and implementing recruiting, communication and outreach efforts to connect and assist prospective students with the admissions and enrollment processes. The College Recruiter and Admissions Counselor reports to the Director of Recruitment and Admissions and has the following responsibilities:
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in the enrollment management planning process, provides recruitment reports and functions as a member of the Enrollment Services team. 
  • Communicates with prospective students, parents, and the community through an array of recruitment events, workshops, and fairs, utilizing recruitment strategies and promotional materials to increase enrollment. 
  • Visits service area partners and agencies, provides outreach to high schools, business organizations, community groups, and other constituencies to encourage participation, stimulate interest, and coordinate recruitment strategies and events to promote the College's full array of programs. Conducts oral presentations as the need dictates. 
  • Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, schools and the community, this position provides leadership and designs avenues for prospective students to learn about and enroll in College programs.
  • Keep up-to-date records on prospective students (inquiry-to-applicant) and tracks student inquiries to increase awareness of programs and admissions requirements.
  • Assists potential students with the completion of the admissions applications, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and other enrollment related paperwork and/or processes. 
  • Utilizes the College's enrollment van to provide ongoing innovative promotion of College programs and services to the general public throughout the College's service region. 
  • Provides program information and career resources to prospective students, making connections with appropriate College departments and staff to assist students in decision making for admissions, including decisions related to special criteria programs. 
  • Serves programs with special criteria, including but not limited to conducting recruitment campaigns, reviewing applications and determining acceptance.  Ensures admissions processes and procedures are administered effectively and efficiently for the benefit of students and the programs.   
  • Collaborates with the Director of Recruitment and Admissions on the establishment of relevant promotional materials and the implementation of the College's recruitment plan. 
  • Maintains sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds. 
  • Supports the mission, vision, and values of the College and attends College events and meetings. 
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the title and as assigned that support the mission of the College.

QUALIFICATIONS:
