EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Skills
Required: Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Communications or a qualifying field, or a Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in any discipline with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Communications. Good communication skills.
Preferred: Master’s degree in Communications. Bilingual.
Experience
Preferred: Some teaching experience at the community college level. Some experience with instructional delivery via distance learning.

Position Description
Salary is commensurate with education and experience
The Communications Instructor plans, develops, delivers, and evaluates assigned day or evening courses, evaluates student performance, and serves as an academic advisor to students. The Communications Instructor is also responsible for maintaining student records and submitting reports in a timely manner. The position reports to the Dean of Arts and Sciences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Teach students in the subject area of Communications that may include a seated, online, or hybrid format
- Teach day or evening courses as assigned
- Submit required reports and maintain accurate student records
- Develop and manage course syllabi and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college requirements
- Plan and creating lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments
- Grade assigned papers, quizzes, and exams
- Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations
- Report student learning outcomes and analyze student data
- Collaborate with colleagues on course curriculum
- Advise a caseload of students as assigned
- Advise students on how to be successful to achieve goals
- Stay updated on innovations and changes within their course load.
- Acquire computer/technology competencies as appropriate to position.
- Maintain security of personal computer access.
- Serve on college committees as directed by supervisor
- Perform other professional or job-related duties as assigned
