  • Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience in communications, marketing, or related field preferred
  • Strong computer skills and problem solving abilities
  • Datatel experience preferred
  • Strong creative, analytic, and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, and collaborate with others

Position Description

The Communications Resource Specialist (CRS) coordinates the flow of information to prospects, applicants, and students for Admissions/Enrollment Management and for Recruitment. The CRS ensures that the communication flow chart established by the Lenoir Community College Recruitment Plan is operating efficiently.

The duties of the Communications Resource Specialist include, but are not limited to:

  • Tracking all prospective students from general interest through enrollment
  • Providing the content to help create new interest publications for prospective students, applicants, and newly enrolled students prior to the marketing and Printing Department developing the graphics and layout
  • Communicating with program chairs concerning prospective students for their programs
  • Monitoring all letters and other materials generated in the communication flow for accuracy and updating as needed
  • Printing letters daily and sending emails and texts as scheduled, reviewing them for accuracy and making any needed changes in the correspondence
  • Keeping all correspondence accurate in Datatel Colleague and the Customer Relations Management system (CRM)
  • Placing orders for materials needed to keep communication flow operational
  • Running queries needed for mailings
  • Creating labels for student folders
  • Disseminating information by using the telephone, mail services, e-mails, and texts
  • Organizing and maintaining the student file system to include receiving applications, entering data in the Datatel Colleague system, making folders, receiving and scanning transcripts, and filing information in the folders
  • Greeting students and visitors and answering phones
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management and Dean of Student Services
