Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Basic knowledge of College, College and Career Readiness, and Workforce Continuing Education programs

Basic knowledge of College and Career Readiness admissions requirements and procedures

Should relate, collaborate and communicate well with individuals form all socio-economic levels and ethnic groups with respect and sensitivity

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, database management, and networking

Intermediate knowledge of student recruiting and educational program marketing techniques

Should be self-directed, organized, task-oriented detail-oriented and flexible

Should possess excellent oral, written and listening skills

Available to work a flexible schedule, as needed, including evening hours


Associate's degree

Two years' related work experience in recruiting in higher education, program management and program marketing or other closely related field

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

Experience in higher education program management

Experience with networking and building community partnerships for recruiting in higher education programs


Position Description

The role of the Community Liaison is to link Wake Technical Community College's College and Career Readiness (CCR) programs with the needs of our community partners and employers. This position will serve as a first point of contact for adult learners in our community and students referred to our programs from our community partner agencies.


Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

*Acts as a liaison with businesses involved in the career pathways program and pursues additional opportunities to connect with additional partners

*Presents overview of CCR or specific topics, as needed, to partner groups or potential customer base

*Markets and promotes classes/presentations/events/activities internally and externally to create a greater awareness of CCR to all targeted demographic groups

Works with potential program participants through small group and one-on-one meetings to link them with transitional programming opportunities

Provides information regarding admissions requirements and program benefits to prospective students during class operations and non-meeting times

Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external partner agencies

Monitors demand level of classes offered and anticipated demand levels for proposed new classes

Assists department with curriculum development for career pathways

Participates in events, such as open-house activities, and new student information sessions to illustrate the program potential to new students

Provides academic counseling to prospective and current students in the CCR program

Develops and maintains CCR's social media presence, including, but not limited to, all print and web-based marketing materials, while following Wake Technical Community College's communication guidelines and policies
