Minimum Qualifications

Associate Degree in Machining Technology or related field. Extensive experience, well documented in the application packet, may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement. Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and excellent computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) are necessary. Applicants not meeting these minimum requirements will not be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience at the community college or four-year college. On-line teaching experience.
Knowledge of programming, set-up, and operation of manual and CNC Lathes and Mills. Knowledge of blueprint reading and use of measuring equipment. Experience with Mastercam.

Announcement Summary

Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for this full-time position. The Computer-Integrated Machining curriculum prepares students with the analytical, creative and innovative skills necessary to take a production idea from an initial concept through design, development and production, resulting in a finished product. Coursework may include manual machining, computer applications, engineering design, computer-aided drafting (CAD), computer-aided machining (CAM), blueprint interpretation, advanced computerized numeric control (CNC) equipment, basic and advanced machining operations, precision measurement and high-speed multi-axis machining. Graduates should qualify for employment as machining technicians in high-tech manufacturing, rapid-prototyping and rapid-manufacturing industries, specialty machine shops, fabrication industries, and high-tech or emerging industries such as aerospace, aviation, medical, and renewable energy, as to sit for machining certification examinations.

Qualified candidates will possess excellent computer skills, demonstrate evidence of flexible work experiences and a willingness to change; be open-minded, fair, and possess the ability to see multiple perspectives; be willing to take risks and accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.


Provide quality classroom and lab instruction both online and in a traditional setting according to the standards set by the department.

Teach face-to-face classes to include days, evenings, and weekends both on and off campus.

Incorporate latest instructional technologies and interactive learning technologies in course delivery.

Assist in program recruitment.

Advise and register students who are in the program or aspire to be in the program.

Monitor and implement practices designed to improve student retention.

Maintain accurate scholastic and membership records of students enrolled in classes and prepare and submit reports as required.

Assist in the design and update of course syllabi, and participate in the on-going curriculum review, revision, and development process.

Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient laboratory environment which foster student learning, engagement, and retention.

Provide quality customer service to students, faculty, and staff.

Continually develop and improve skills through professional development.

Participate in faculty committees and other activities, as assigned.
