Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of at least 12 college-level credit hours in courses using a learning management system (LMS) (e.g. Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, Brightspace, Sakai). A strong knowledge in the following areas: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Powerpoint), GSuite (Docs, Slides, email), Zoom or Google Meet. Basic computer use skills (properly opening and closing computers and programs, managing computer files). Internet safety and cybersecurity awareness.  Customer service and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with multiple Moodle features (e.g. using discussion forums and submitting various assignment options).  Experience with student usage of several Moodle integrated tools (e.g.Voicethread, Padlet, Edpuzzle, Smarthinking, and H5P). Experience using e-learning textbooks, software, and labs. Experience using screencasting and recording software.  Experience taking courses in various delivery modes including virtual and especially asynchronous online.  Experience accessing and navigating WebAdvisor/Self-Service, Aviso, NCLive.  Experience with basic internet research (accessing, utilizing, and citing reliable sources).

 

Position Description

Provide customer service and support to student lab users in a pleasant and encouraging manner and monitor and maintain the computer lab facilities and its use.

Part-time, approximately 20-24 hours per week

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Assist students:

Maintain accurate records of lab usage as students check-in and check-out.

○ Provide help with general computer operations and software features (e.g. saving, retrieving, copying, uploading, and downloading documents, printing, and headphone use).

○ Assist students with logging in and accessing software, Moodle courses, and licensed, integrated Moodle tools.

○ Provide support with accessing WebAdvisor, Aviso, student email, and online library services when used by students to complete assignments. ○ Assist students with questions and refer students to additional related resources as needed (e.g. documents, videos, and websites)

Maintain a clean, organized, and secure lab.

○ Monitor supplies, set up and store laptops daily, keep equipment clean (monitor screens, keyboards, etc.),

○ Check for users left logged in ○ Monitor and report lab rule violations, unauthorized software installations, damaged or faulty equipment, vandalism, or theft

○ Assist students with reporting unresolvable login issues to eSupport/Student Helpdesk

Provide Customer Service

○ Provide excellent customer service while balancing time among lab users

○ Communicate in a personable and professional demeanor with students, faculty, and staff

Participate in training:

○ Attend lab monitor related training sessions and assist with student workshops as scheduled

Other related duties as assigned.
