Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Education, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution. Two (2) years directly related experience working with adult students and career advising.

Preferred Qualifications

Related experience working with local industry and business to create partnerships and access career needs. Special consideration will be given to individuals with a high school counseling background and/or experience at the community college, four-year college, or university level with a background in career counseling.

Connect students with community college programs that will assist in preparing for career goals. 

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

  • Develop a comprehensive recruitment plan for Continuing Education to recruit new students and retain and transition existing students to continuing and/or curriculum programs.
  • Collaborate with NCWorks, faith based organizations, nonprofits, and local businesses to provide program admission requirements and benefits to prospective students.
  • Visit NCWorks weekly to foster and maintain relationships.
  • Plan, organize, host, and/or attend recruitment and transition events such as Career in a Year and Boot Camp Transition Day.
  • Visit classes to engage with existing students and promote transitions.
  • Assist new students with the enrollment process including advising, registration, and career planning.
  • Assist students with navigating the financial aid, scholarships, and other funding options.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of various interventions to help students remove barriers to completion.
  • Aide student’s progress in programs by connecting with campus resources, decision making strategies and processes to succeed.
  • Serve as a resource to internal departments with recruitment training and new student enrollment training via information sessions, committees, and professional development opportunities.
  • Coordinate Continuing Education marketing and recruitment efforts.
  • Develop and create marketing materials in cooperation with Public Relations.
  • Update NCWorks/WIOA program database.
  • Communicate clear connections between noncredit to credit programs and ways to reduce barriers to transitioning.
  • Serve as a liaison to educate and inform the Success Network team about Continuing Education opportunities.
  • Participate in professional development activities provided by NCC. 
  • Participate in College events and activities. 
  • Maintain regular and consistent on-site attendance during normal hours of college operations in fulfillment of duties not inconsistent with the expectations for full-time employees and College policies and procedures.
  • Initiate and answer telephone calls and video conference calls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that contribute to the efficient and effective operation of NCC.
  • Serve on various committees as assigned.
  • Participate in and support ongoing assessment, planning and evaluation to improve student learning.
