- Bachelor’s degree
- One year of qualifying experience
- Valid NCDL
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with students who identify as having intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, bachelor’s degree with NCCCS Adult Education Certification; Master’s degree in Education or Master’s degree with Adult Education
- Certification through NCCCS
Position Description
The Access to Achievement Coordinator is dedicated to serving the IDD population and will create an intra-college support system to help ensure student success. This position reports to the Director of Career & College Readiness.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Administrative:
- Primary contact for students who self-report/disclose an IDD diagnosis.
- Interview students and/or parents to establish interests and goals.
- Present options based on student interests.
- Develop a person-centered plan and complete required plan documentation.
- Guide students in the application process.
- Refer students to other campus services as determined appropriate.
- Conducts bi-weekly follow-up/check-in with students for the course of the student’s enrollment.
- Track student outcomes.
- Follow-up with instructors on a regular basis regarding student progress
- Local marketing and outreach responsibilities
- Student recruitment
- Create and submit reports to NCCCS as requested.
- Partner student with peer mentor if desired by student and/or parent
- Liaison with workforce development staff, community agencies, and local employers to assist students in pursuing employment.
- Continue to track and follow up with students for six months after separation from college services.
- Advocate for inclusion in all aspects of college and campus life, keep students informed of campus events, and invite them to participate in campus activities.
- Organize and coordinate implementation team activities.
- Participate in all professional development and other meetings as required by NCCCS.
- Supervise a part-time administrative support person.
- Hire, train, and supervise instructors.
General College Duties:
- Attends meetings, conferences, and training sessions as required.
- Serves on assigned college committees.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
