  • Associate’s degree in a career and technical education program from a regionally accredited institution and two years of relevant work experience in a business/industry environment

Position Description

The Apprenticeship Coordinator reports directly to the Director, Corporate Education and Training. The Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating apprenticeship opportunities to support business and industry. This position will promote apprenticeships and experiential learning as educational strategies and will manage all aspects of Rockingham Community College’s apprenticeship program.

  • Develop and expand apprenticeships (adult, incumbent worker, and youth)
  • Provide overview of apprenticeship programs to students, college faculty and staff, business and industry employers
  • Coordinate with division deans, program leadership, faculty and workforce staff to develop and implement courses and programs designed to meet the training and development needs of employers
  • Assist in the development of marketing strategies and material to publicize apprenticeship programs
  • Actively recruit high school students, College and Career Readiness (CCR) graduates, community members, and student to participate in registered apprenticeship program(s)
  • Utilize procedures that meet audit requirements for students, faculty, and employers related to apprenticeships
  • Assist in the promotion of apprenticeships with completion and/or implementation of reports, schedules, presentations, events, meetings, and other projects as assigned
  • Assist with program assessment and evaluation
  • Utilize systems for monitoring student progress toward learning objectives through apprenticeship work experience
  • Contribute to annual planning to achieve and track specific apprenticeship outcomes
  • Provide requested data for ApprenticeshipNC annual quality assessment and evaluation
  • Maintain accountability for all aspects of apprenticeship operations
  • Use state apprenticeship registration system to register all new apprentices and completions
  • Coordinate college sponsored pre-apprenticeships with appropriate team members and manage class application process
  • Manage the data required to accurately track all aspects of an apprenticeship from recruitment to long term gainful employment
  • Coach students on job seeking and employment skills related to apprenticeships: provide resume, interviewing, networking, workplace behavior, and general career development through collaboration with Career Services team
  • Provide Academic Advising for apprentices
  • Collaborate with Rockingham County Apprenticeship Technical Opportunity Program (RockATOP) Consortium to facilitate youth apprenticeships
  • Serve as liaison between Apprentice Sponsor Companies/ApprenticeshipNC/RockATOP and RCC Faculty/Staff/Advisors
  • Provide support and guidance for students throughout the apprenticeship experience
  • Utilize strong data tracking and communication skills to ensure and document that each apprenticeship experience meets RCC’s and state standards
  • Participate in state, regional, and national industry-related associations and organizations.
  • Serve on appropriate standing committees across the College
  • Coordinate the Carl T. Perkins grant activities
  • Coordinate work-based learning experiences
