Minimum Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution
  • Possess a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina 
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) calendar years of prior full-time employment or the equivalent of full-time clinical nursing practice experience as a Registered Nurse 
  • Must have a minimum of two years full-time teaching experience in an approved nursing program as a Master’s prepared nurse
  • Preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education.
  • Skilled in the use of office and classroom/lab technologies 
  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Teaching experience at a community college is preferred

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Provides coordination of Associate Degree Nursing.  This position reports to the Director of Nursing.  The coordinator of ADN Nursing is responsible for providing coordination of course activities in collaboration with the director and faculty.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  

 

  • Provide collaborative coordination for the nursing programs to include clinical rotations, lecture, and labs.
  • Assist Director of Nursing in scheduling of classes.
  • Provide instruction in the nursing programs per college policy.
  • Foster a collegial relationship among colleagues and partners
  • Support the student access, success and completion agenda
  • Maintain complete office records, as needed; process reports, forms,  clinical schedules and all other required paperwork in a timely, efficient manner, checking for the accuracy and correctness of all data
  • Assist in the recruitment, interviewing and appointment of adjunct faculty and provide for orientation of new employees
  • Ensure that the program and curriculum offerings are in full compliance with the requirements for NCBON approval, accreditation, certification, and other standards stipulated by appropriate external agencies
  • Assist Director of nursing in annual budget process.
  • Prepare and process contracts for part-time and/or adjunct faculty.
  • Liaison with community partners, schools and peer institutions to meet mutual needs and strengthen relationships
  • Participate on the Nursing  Advisory Committee
  • Manage the instructional processes through collaborative planning
  • Participate in committee assignments
  • Identify opportunities that advance instruction, director/faculty professional development, new technologies, innovations, and student learning initiatives
  • Participates in student recruitment activities, academic advising and counseling of students
  • Participates in selection of textbooks and other educational resources
  • Maintains professional competence and licensure through continuing education, professional activities and/or practice, including compliance with the professional development requirements of NCBON 21 NCAC 3.0318(e)(3).

  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with students
  • Ability to use Microsoft office, Office 365, Moodle and Outlook
  • Experience with outcome and program assessment
