Minimum Qualifications
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Human Resources, Business, Social Sciences or related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
Experience Required:
- Three years of experience in career services, job placement services, workforce development, human resources or related field.
- One year of career advising/guidance experience that includes administering career assessments, teaching job search techniques, explaining labor market information, and helping students set academic and career goals.
- Experience developing and directing career workshops and programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Education Preferred:
Master’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Human Resources, Business, Social Sciences or related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
Experience Preferred:
- Four or more years of experience in career services, job placement services, workforce development, human resources or related field.
- Two or more years of career advising/guidance experience that includes administering career assessments, teaching job search techniques, explaining labor market information, and helping students set academic and career goals.
- Supervisory experience in the coordination of advising, career counseling, or related activities.
- Experience planning and leading special events such as employer recruiting events and career fairs.
- Experience in community outreach to assess business/industry needs and develop strong employer partnerships.
- Experience with Colleague/Datatel and other college related technology.
Position Description
The Career Services Coordinator manages the career counseling and development aspects of the College, providing services and activities that meet student, community, departmental, divisional, and institutional career needs. This position offers students resources for career exploration, interprets career assessments, and helps students to research employment trends. Additionally, this position oversees the training of advisors across the college to ensure they are adequately prepared to assist students with career interest inventories, job search strategies, resume writing, mock interviewing, and interviewing skills. The Career Services Coordinator will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the college’s annual Career Fair. The Career Services Coordinator works to build relationships with local employers encouraging the hiring of our graduates. This individual performs additional duties as determined by the Associate Vice President of Student Support Services.
