Minimum Qualifications

Education Required

-Associate degree in Emergency Medical Science (EMS) or closely related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
-North Carolina Paramedic Credential.
-North Carolina Level I EMT Instructor (or ability to obtain within one year of hire).
-Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.

Experience Required

-Three years of relevant or closely related field experience in Emergency Medical Science (EMS).
-One year of Emergency Medical Science (EMS) training/teaching experience based on regulatory training standards.
-Clinical teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Education Preferred

-Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Science (EMS) or closely related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
-American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor.
-NC Level I Paramedic Instructor.

Experience Preferred

-Greater than three years of relevant field experience in Emergency Medical Science (EMS) or closely related career field.
-More than one year of Emergency Medical Science (EMS) training/teaching experience based on regulatory training
standards
-Post-secondary teaching experience.
-Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
-Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems

Position Description

The Emergency Medical Science (EMS) Clinical Coordinator/Occupational Extension Instructor works in collaboration with the Director, Emergency Medical Science Programs to ensure a robust and relevant clinical experience for students in both credit-based and non-credit EMS programs. The position also provides clinical instruction, customer service, data support and documentation services in accordance with state and college regulations as well as external accreditation standards. Instructional responsibilities require a broad-based knowledge of the Emergency Medical Science field.
