Position Description
SUMMARY:
The Coordinator, Cooperative Innovative High Schools (CIHS) works within institutional guidelines and College policies to provide a learning-centered enrollment experience for high school students enrolled at Davidson Early College and Yadkin Valley Regional Career Academy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position is 10 months and will report to the Director, High School Partnerships and Initiatives and has the following responsibilities:
- Provide collaborative and effective communication among various constituents which results in a clear understanding of State legislative action, College policies and program initiatives;
- Adhere to State and College policies regarding enrollment of CIHS students and communicating changes to all relevant parties in a timely and effective manner;
- Collaborate with other areas of the College in planning and developing course offerings;
- Assist students to embrace the role of “college” student by helping them understand the expectations of college faculty and how to become self-advocates;
- Engage students and parents by providing information sessions related to CIHS at the College;
- Monitor progress and attendance in college classes and provide exceptional student-centered customer service, ensuring quality support to students and parents;
- Collaborate with students, parents, faculty and staff to assist in the selection of a college/career pathway to pursue;
- Develop plans of study which combine high school and college coursework to ensure the attainment of a credential;
- Participate in school-related activities in which the College can be promoted, such as Parent Nights and Career Fairs;
- Maintain quality partnerships with secondary school personnel in collaboration with the Director, High School Partnerships and Initiatives;
- Participate in team meetings, serves on College committees, and engages in professional development activities, as directed by the Director, High School Partnerships and Initiatives;
- Maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds;
- Support the mission, vision, and values of the College and attend College events and meetings;
- Perform other duties appropriate to the title and as assigned that support the mission of the College.
ADA SUMMARY:
ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information and exercise good judgment; ease of mobility within the office setting and other areas of campus, College and secondary school locations; travel between locations may be required, effective use of all forms of communication; and the ability to perform general office duties.
