Minimum Qualifications

The Coordinator for Fire Rescue is responsible for the planning, development, organization, administration, and supervision of credit and non-credit programs designed for Fire Protection and Fire Rescue training programs and personnel. Administrative oversight includes the coordination of development of long and short range plans for Fire Protection and Fire Rescue located at HCC and TCC, evaluating and giving feedback to part-time faculty on instructional performance, and development of initiatives to ensure faculty remain current in their respective disciplines as well as college policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:


Associate Degree in Fire Protection; Bachelors in Emergency Service related field preferred. NCOSFM Level II Firefighter Instructor, Qualified Level I Hazardous Materials Instructor.

NC EMT Level I Instructor preferred or willing to work towards achieving.  


All persons must provide verifiable and relevant professional experience in a work-place setting or demonstrated instructional/teaching environment. Experience teaching student success courses required.

Knowledge and Skills:

Must maintain credentials necessary for assigned program area.  Possess strong personal and professional integrity, effective verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to safety.  Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or similar products, database systems, College email and website, and other computer applications associated with the position. Bi-lingual preferred.

• Must maintain current NCOSFM Level II Firefighter Instructor and Qualified Level I Hazardous Materials Instructor 

• A strong commitment to safety and use of personal protective equipment.

Physical Demands: 

The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.  Must be physically able to perform task levels commensurate with a firefighter/rescue technician and paramedic.
