Knowledge and Skills
Two – four years’ experience in teaching, training, counseling, or testing. Computer skills with proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite, and web-based applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
Position Description
Statement of Primary Purpose
Proper administration, supervision and integrity of High School Equivalency Testing.
Classification
Technical Support; Full-time, non-exempt staff.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Schedule, administer, and secure High School Equivalency (HSE) test access, materials and processes.
- Follow GED and HiSET policies for test registration, administration, integrity, and reporting.
- Publicize testing schedule and locations.
- Report test results and assist completers with transcript requests.
- Maintain secure inventory of paper tests and testing equipment.
- Maintain PearsonVue approval for the college’s testing locations.
- Conduct investigations into test irregularities.
- Participate in state-level meetings for HSE test administrators.
- Provide HSE test information to civic groups, adult educators, and business, industry, and program advisory partners in the region.
- Coordinate HSE graduation ceremonies.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Support College & Career Readiness student enrollment, orientation, and retention efforts.
- Assist with supervision of Adult Basic Education courses and the ProjectSEARCH program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, business, office administration, English, or math; Master’s degree in a related field preferred.

Physical Demands
Light lifting of office supplies. Bending, stretching, and walking for filing and special events.
Licensing Requirement
- Approval as GED and HiSET Administrator upon completion of training requirements.
- Valid NC Drivers’ License
Working Conditions and Environment
Testing requires traveling across the college service area. Morning testing hours may occasionally begin as early as 7:00 am to accommodate student work and transportation schedules. Evening test sessions may conclude as late as 9:00 pm. Occasional travel outside the service area for professional development or training.
Equipment Operation
- Ability to drive a vehicle to administer tests at SCC sites and off-campus locations throughout the service area.
- Software programs and routine office/computer equipment including copier and scanners.
