Minimum Qualifications
Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a laboratory science (e.g., biology, chemistry, etc.) or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Current driver’s license in good standing.
Experience Required
- 3 years of relevant work experience in a laboratory environment.
- Experience with chemicals used in laboratory environments to include hazardous material disposal regulations.
- Experience with models and demonstration experiments utilized in the physical sciences.
Preferred Qualifications
Education Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree with an academic concentration in chemistry or biochemistry from a regionally accredited institution.
- OSHA chemical and biological hazard certifications.
Experience Preferred
- Greater than 3 years of relevant work experience in a laboratory environment.
- Experience supervising student employees.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Word, Excel and Outlook.
Position Description
The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate the preparation and setup of science laboratory experiments, exams and activities. Other duties include, purchasing and taking inventory of supplies and materials, maintaining proper waste disposal in labs and maintaining/repairing equipment. The Science Laboratory coordinator works closely with faculty members and part-time laboratory assistants to both plan and improve the laboratories each week for class. The incumbent must practice good interpersonal skills and be able to work independently.
