- Two years’ experience with medical simulation systems, equipment, simulators
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Healthcare professional in a discipline offered at SCC (RN, RRT, EMT, etc.)
- Certified BLS-Healthcare Provider Instructor
- Master’s Degree in education/training, or medical technology discipline
- Five Years of clinical experience
- Five Years of educational/training experience
- Certified ACLS and PALS instructor
Position Description
Coordinates and manages the college’s Simulation Hospital. The individual in this position will assure the effective day to day operation of the hospital, assess and provide for meeting program and students needs and oversee the operation of high and medium fidelity technology to ensure safe and effective use of the simulation equipment. This is a staff position that reports the AVP of Health Sciences and Public Services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Design and implement simulation training that fully incorporate state-of-the-art training techniques and equipment.
- Incorporate medical simulation into the training curriculum for students, faculty and staff at all levels in all specialties.
- Further the development of medical simulation training and technology through collaboration with corporate sponsors and academic professionals from various non-medical specialties.
- Serve as a resource for other healthcare professionals, educators and researchers in the field of simulation based educational methodologies.
DUTIES:
- Stay abreast of formal educational requirements for each healthcare discipline offered at SCC and determining certifications required per accreditation agencies (i.e. nursing, EMT, etc.)
- Coordinate the day-to-day Sim Hospital activities and services to ensure availability of equipment and materials for student and instructor use
- Assists and schedules with simulation lab tours as requested by the college and outside groups.
- Provide a basic orientation to simulator features and the simulated learning environment for faculty and staff.
- Communicate in a positive, professional manner with faculty instructors, students and other users of the Simulation Center.
- Develops and implements simulation hospital policies, procedures and practices.
- Maintain current knowledge on the use and operation of all simulation lab equipment by participating in technical training as necessary; attend off-site training to stay current with simulation technology.
- Responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of all simulation equipment.

- Manages inventory and procures equipment and supplies within simulation lab budget.
- Inventory supplies and equipment, ordering and restocking consumable supplies as needed to support lab use.
- Identifies resources necessary for the successful operation of clinical simulation hospital.
- Participates and represents Stanly Community College at simulation related group meetings at the local, state and national levels
- Inspect and monitor lab/classroom facilities and equipment to ensure they are clean, safe and organized.
- Order repairs and maintenance as necessary to keep all resources functional.
- Maintain operational manuals with policies and procedures.
- Promote safe lab practices by ensuring that the Sim Hospital is neat, well organized, and free of unnecessary clutter and that adequate space is available for Sim Hospital use.
- Developing, implementing and updating simulation lab policies, procedures and use.
- Assure simulation equipment is in good working condition prior to the start of all simulations; troubleshoot all simulation equipment.
- Install new hardware and software equipment; perform hardware and software upgrades; ensures security of equipment.
- Maintaining operational laboratory equipment and recommending replacements as needed.
- Works with vendors to resolve problems with products and/or services, manages vendor selection, implements new technology and provides technical support and advice.
