Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities.
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities.
3. Evidence of strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
4. Experience with social media, virtual and communication platforms;
5. Ability to work well with individuals with diverse backgrounds;
6. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
7. Knowledge of marketing and sales techniques;
8. Ability to make presentations to large audiences virtually and face-to-face
9. Excellent computer skills as evidenced by experience with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and communication tools for recruiting a diverse audience;
10. Knowledge of student data management systems, preferably Colleague.
11. Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality; and
12. Understanding of the mission, goals, and objectives of Durham Tech.

Essential Functions

The Coordinator, Student Recruitment is responsible for coordinating all college recruiting events and activities. This person will work as part of the College Recruitment and High School Partnerships team to inform prospective students about the programs available at Durham Technical Community College and to advise students through the recruitment and enrollment process.

Job Duties:

1. Coordinate planning, organization and implementation of recruitment events both virtually and face-to-face;
2. Collaborate with marketing to create content that meets our recruitment needs;
3. Serve as point-of-contact for new student recruitment inquiries;
4. Engage colleagues from across the college in support of student recruitment;
5. Serve as marketing liaison for recruitment events;
6. Work with Marketing and Communications to develop and maintain department website;
7. Recruit and advise prospective students through the enrollment process;
8. Engage high school students, school counselors, faculty, parents, and other stakeholders through classroom visits and other events (e.g., parent nights, financial aid events) to provide information related to college success and opportunities at Durham Tech;
9. Maintain records for enrollment, tracking, and audit reporting purposes;
10. Maintain quality partnerships with community-based organizations and secondary school personnel;
11. Collaborate with other departments at the college to ensure a smooth transition for new students;
12. Offer recruitment presentations for groups on campus and in the community, upon request;
13. Participate in team meetings and professional development activities to stay current on college programs and procedure changes;
14. Conduct tours on campus, as appropriate;
15. Serve as consultant and resource to internal departments with recruitment training via information sessions and professional development opportunities;
16. Other duties as assigned by the Director, College Recruitment and High School Partnerships; Vice President, Student Engagement, Development and Support; and the President.

• Good eye/hand dexterity.
