Minimum Qualifications

Required educational background:

  • Associate's Degree 

Required kind and number years of work experience: 

  • Two years of full-time or equivalent experience working with individuals with barriers.
  • Two years of full-time or equivalent experience in workforce development.
  • Case management experience.
  • Marketing or recruiting experience with diverse populations

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

 

  • Knowledge of business, community and economic development
  • Ability to support programs from draft through implementation 
  • Ability to communicate effectively to groups and individuals
  • Skills in managing group facilitation
  • Ability to establish working relationships with employers, organizations and economic development partners
  • Ability to prepare and analyze reports and data

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Two years of full-time or equivalent experience working with individuals with barriers.
  • Two years of full-time or equivalent experience in workforce development

Position Description

FNS Education and Training Navigator (75%) 

Serves as liaison between Central Carolina Community College and local Department of Social Services and local workforce and non-profit agencies to support individuals with employment barriers. Helps to place Central Carolina Community College students and community members in training opportunities and local jobs. Works with the NC Works team to support and identify career and educational pathways for Central Carolina Community College students enrolled in the program. Helps to develop, coordinate, maintain, and track educational and employment opportunities for clients. Completes reporting requirements as necessary to meet federal, state and local requirements for grant resources.

 

Coordination of Access Programs (25%)  

The Coordinator will work to align, strengthen and grow access programs for short-term and workforce continuing education programs.  This includes overseeing and aligning various scholarship programs, including disbursements and reporting (SECU Foundation, Golden LEAF, GEER). They will lead and support a new workforce development partnership with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC and play an integral role in the development of a potential re-entry program.

Essential Duties

 

  • Assists students with the overall enrollment process, including basic financial aid information, placement test, and program admission processes.
  • Understands and interprets placement, college policies, procedures and degree requirements, and refers to campus services as necessary.
  • Coordinates and aligns scholarship programs to best support students and workforce needs. 
  • Supports students related to various workforce access programs. 
  • Serves as a Central Carolina Community College representative in local workforce development groups and initiatives.
  • Mentors and tracks a caseload of Central Carolina Community College students and clients before and during training and after job placement.
  • Maintains tracking of scholarship worksheets and reporting.
  • Conducts thorough needs analyses and career assessments/interest inventories to understand client needs.
  • Connects students with career development services as necessary. Redirects students to more appropriate/better -fit programs of study based on results of career development services interactions.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the College by remaining competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development sessions, and attending training.
  • Develops community outreach plan and builds relationships with local college and community partners toward recruitment, including client advocacy and increased awareness.
  • Serves as an information resource and responds to inquiries from students, faculty, and staff by maintaining knowledge of selective and limited program requirements and admission deadlines.
  • Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and Welcoming College statement.
  • Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
