Requires minimum Associates Degree and instruction in educational theory and techniques which may include college courses, seminars or in-service sessions on topic; credentialed in medical assisting in good standing by NCCA accredited credentialing organization; minimum three years of employment in healthcare facility, including a minimum 160 hours in ambulatory healthcare setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures as performed by medical assistants; minimum one year teaching experience in postsecondary and/or vocational/technical education.
Develop and implement vision for improving enrollment and quality of Medical Assisting Program; instruct, coordinate, and teach (minimum 14 hours per week) medical assisting in accordance with established policies and guidelines; maintain office hours for student advising and class planning; chair Medical Assisting Advisory Committee; coordinate with area medical facilities to maintain adequate number of student practicum sites; plan with other program faculty to maintain accreditation standards including completion of reaccreditation documents, annual reports, and synthesis and analysis of data for ongoing program evaluation and improvement.
