Position Description
General responsIbilities
Serve the College and Career Readiness Adult Education population and department within the Continuing Education Program of MTCC.
Specific responsibilities
- Provide structured stand-up lecture and individual instruction based on NCCCS Content Standards, and NCCCS and WIOA requirements as assigned in ELA/ESL or transition classes.
- Follow classroom and administrative requirements for monitoring, testing and transitioning HSE, ELA/ESL, ABE and Digital Literacy students and programs.
- Be present and on-time for all classes scheStudent Attendance forms, Daily sign-in forms, LEIS forms, time sheets, and any other required or requested reports on or before due dates.duled for the semester.
- Actively recruit students for College and Career Readiness classes.
- Register students for class each semester with CCR data management.
- Familiar with entering attendance into Advansys data management system.
- Test students following NRS, and state-approved tests recommendations and regulations.
- Mentor/supervise instructors within the department.
- Advise/support students based on academic progress, and career, employment or post-secondary transitioning goals.
- Maintain up-to-date syllabus and lesson plans for class instruction based on NCCCS Content Standards, and WIOA requirements.
- Maintain accurate student cumulative folders containing copies of the student registrations, up-to-date LEIS forms, advising records, and actual test forms.
- Maintain student portfolios of student work documenting progress (including but not limited to original test sheets).
- Maintain, and submit accurate and required Student Attendance forms, Daily sign-in forms, LEIS forms, time sheets, and any other required or requested reports on or before due dates.
- Review other instructor’s Student Attendance forms, Daily sign-in forms, LEIS forms, time sheets, and any other required or requested reports for accuracy on or before due dates.
- Know and follow MTCC, NCCCS, and NRS policy guidelines.
- Attend ongoing professional development.
- Willing to obtain ESL/ELA credentials and others credentials as identified.
- Select textbooks/resources and submit MTCC requisition forms as needed.
- Willing to use resources currently available to maximize usage.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additionally, instructors may need to carry books, materials, and student files to and from field-based classes and must be able to conduct class by writing relevant instructional information on chalkboards, white marker boards, and/or overhead projectors. Activities such as standing, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching or stooping for books/materials, and lifting books/materials and computers weighing several pounds are considered to be a normal part of the job.
