Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in Cosmetology or closely related field with NC license for Cosmetology and one year of Cosmetology experience and Cosmetology Instructor license.

Effective communication, both oral and written, skills necessary. Must have expert efficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

Extensive experience, well documented in the application packet, may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience at a community college or four-year college. On-line teaching experience.

Position Description

Provide quality instruction for face-to-face and online classes to include days, evenings, and weekends both on and off campus.

Incorporate latest instructional technologies in course delivery and utilize interactive learning technologies to engage students in the teaching and learning process.

Maintain accurate scholastic and membership records of students enrolled in classes and prepare and submit reports as required.

Adhere to all rules and regulations of the North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Arts Examiners to ensure proper instruction and guidelines are met. Actively assisting students in preparing for and passing state licensure examinations.

Actively engage in the development and implementation of program review, assessment, strategic planning, curriculum/program improvement, recruitment, and retention efforts.

Periodically evaluate and develop new courses.
 

Revise and update existing courses for relevancy and currency consistent with the role and mission of the College.
 

Maintain face-to-face and/or online classroom environments conducive to student learning, engagement, and retention.

Advise and register students and participate in reviewing student eligibility to graduate..

Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to improve student retention, meet diverse student needs, and make referrals for students needing assistance.

Monitor and improve student retention.

Suggest and review new course materials including textbooks, software, etc..

Provide quality customer service to students, faculty, and staff.

Participate in faculty committees and other activities, as assigned.

Adhere to current requirement and submit documentation, as needed, for licensure, certification, registration, health requirements, and/or other validation requirements, as appropriate.
