Position Description
This is a full-time, twelve-month position reporting to the Director of Curriculum and Student Services Ashe Campus and works in concert with the Associate Dean of Admissions & Advising, Dean of Students, and Director of Counseling.
Responsibilities include assisting and informing students regarding a full range of student services processes, including, but not limited to, admissions and new student orientation, serving as primary contact for students at the Ashe Campus requiring counseling, advising assigned students, and recruiting, coordinating, and student activities for the Ashe Campus.
The position includes the following responsibilities and expectations:
1. Assist students with the development of individual career and academic plans and proactively engage with students to monitor academic progress.
2. Refer students to comprehensive community programs as needed to support the students’ well-being.
3. Lead and direct Ashe Campus student activities committee.
4. Serve as the primary contact for the WCC Ashe Campus food pantry.
5. Assist in providing the WCC Drug Education Program for the Ashe Campus.
6. Implement best practices related to student success courses and advising.
7. Collaborate with the Lead Instructor to create syllabi, establish objectives, competencies, and assessments for ACA courses.
8. Collaborate with faculty mentors in students’ programs of study.
9. Complete administrative aspects relating to FTE reports, end-of-semester reports, grades and other required reports in a timely manner.
10. Communicate with students and administration through the technological framework provided by WCC.
11. Refer students, as appropriate, to support areas of WCC including Student Support Services, the Academic Support Center, Learning Resources Center, Student Services, the Writing Center, etc.
12. Attend commencement exercises, committee and task force meetings, and faculty meetings as scheduled.
13. Fulfilling other responsibilities as assigned.
