Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Completion of a Master’s degree.
Two (2) years of experience in a related field.
Master’s degree in Counseling, Special Education, or related area is required.

Position Description
Coordinate services for students with accessibility needs and provide other services to students such as testing, advising, and career related/based opportunities.
Essential Duties
- Coordinate all services related to students with accessibility needs at both campus locations.
- Collect and review disability assessment documentations for students with disabilities and provide recommendations for academic accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), federal or state regulations, and college procedures.
- Coordinate assistive technology, interpreters, readers, and note-takers, for accommodations.
- Train faculty on use of any special equipment/software needed for student accommodations.
- Communicate to faculty the accessibility needs for students and approved accommodations.
- Ensure college compliance in accordance with ADA, state and federal laws, and NC Community College System regulations.
- Maintain a database of special support services in the community and refer students when needed.
- Maintain confidential file for each student requesting accommodations.
- Keeps abreast of state-of art technology, techniques, laws, services, and philosophy relevant to disability areas.
- Promote disability awareness and provide education to the college faculty, staff, and students to encourage positive attitudes and culture of acceptance.
- Provides programming and training for Disability Awareness Month, and throughout the year.
- Provides and implements access to the Student Assistance Program (SAP).
- Provide academic or career advising to students.
- Provides counseling for students having difficulties per the early alert system (encompasses all students)
- Participate in delivery of student services in a cross-functional team approach.
- Assist in the delivery of career services to students, workshops, and event planning such as the Career Fair, including light resume assistance to students.
- Participate in committees and task forces designed to address student success, retention, and graduation challenges.
