Completion of a Master’s degree. Two (2) years of experience in a related field. Master’s degree in Counseling, Special Education, or a related area is required.
The purpose of this position is to coordinate services for students with special needs and provide other services to students such as testing, advising, and career-related/based opportunities. This position coordinates all services to students with special needs at both campus locations. Collects and reviews disability assessment documentation for students with disabilities and provides recommendations for academic accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), federal or state regulations, and college procedures, coordinates assistive technology, interpreters, readers, and note-takers, for accommodations, trains faculty on the use of any special equipment/software needed for student accommodations, communicates to faculty the special needs for students and approved accommodations, ensures college compliance in accordance with ACA, state and federal laws, and NC Community College System regulations, maintains a database of special support services in the community and refer students when needed, etc.
