Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and five years’ experience in the criminal justice field or Master’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with teaching in a community college, preferred.
Position Description
In support of the overall Learning College, the Criminal Justice Instructor is responsible for providing a high qualify learning experience for all the College students. The instructor will teach Criminal Justice courses; provide high quality learning opportunities that assist students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations; perform instructional-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the College; the Criminal Justice instructor will also demonstrate a commitment to the Learning College concept, assessment, cooperative learning, and student advising.
Essential Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff and administrators as an individual or as part of a team.
- Develop course outlines and content based on the state curriculum standards and updates to the curriculum as needed
- Facilitate the delivery of Criminal Justice Program courses including but not limited to Law Enforcement Operations, Court Procedures & Evidence, etc. in the Career and College Promise Program at the regional high schools.
- Deliver courses utilizing a variety of teaching methods which may include a combination of traditional, internet, and hybrid
- Must teach a full load in the fall and spring semesters. Teaching will take place in the high schools, on the main campus and online.
- Serve on the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee
- Complete and maintain planning and assessment documents
- Serve as an ambassador in the community for Isothermal Community College and Criminal Justice
- Maintain and update certifications pertinent to program
- Oversee student portfolio completion for education program
- Participate in the marketing, recruitment, and retention of students at the regional high schools
- Perform expectations of a faculty member as stated in the Full-Time Faculty Job Description
- Other duties as assigned

- Must work well independently and within a small team to support the division’s infrastructure
- Display initiative, flexibility, and the ability to determine priorities; ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and accomplish goals within set time and financial limits without undue stress
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and with a minimum of supervision
